I am having a problem updating the BIOS on my Latitude CPx.
My BIOS version is now A05. I would like to change it to a newer one – A16. When I ran the appropriate config file, my current BIOS version (A05) was enabled so that you can support a non-floppy BIOS update method. The installer suggested leaving a floppy disk, but I don’t have a floppy disk in my laptop.
I planned to immediately change the BIOS version to the old one, and then to the newer one. A09 was the only old version I found. I switched to MS-DOS policy (with Windows 98 CD) booted on my laptop and then ran BIOS setup utility v.A09 completed. Unfortunately, I get a message that the command needs to be installed or the process cannot continue. My battery stopped working a while ago, so I threw it out of the house.

I have a Dell Latitude CPx J600GT laptop with BIOS version A14.
I bought a new combo CD-RW / DVD-ROM drive for this. If I combine the drive while Windows is already running XP, it works fine and I can use it without error.
