Last week, some readers informed us that they are facing a Windows update that does not work with XP pro sp3.
Windows Update has stopped working in the last 2 weeksand. No “no news updates”. Running i Microsoft Update will open IE 8. When I select Express or Custom, the concept of “checking for the latest updates for your computer” gets stuck for hours. Tried it at different times of the day.
Automatic updates are enabled and the service can run. Background Intelligent Transfer Service is running (bits). I’ve tried setting all products to their defaults as BlackViper says for XP Professional SP3 and they all look fine.
I ran every Microsoft fix I could find, including http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058, and from time to time did all of the manual repair steps on the facts page. Everything worked out, but no changes. Security
Microsoft Essentials will unfortunately be updated correctly earlier. I also got updates for the program via Windows Update. It is checked for spores, Trojans and rootkits, often with the help of many different programs. Nothing detected and I think the system is clean.
I must have Windows XP on this system so I can try yesbetter to fix Windows Update?
