Problem

After adding the HP Photo and Imaging software that came with the HP Scanjet 3970 style scanner or HP Scanjet 8200 Series digital flatbed scanners (both scanners use version 2.2) to a computer system with any version of Photo and Imaging software If earlier than 2.1 is already installed, when trying to scan with the HP Scanjet 3970c, a new error message below may appear.

Uninstall all previous versions of HP photo and imaging software and reinstall only version 2.2 of the HP photo and imaging software that came with the HP 3970c Scanjet series. HP

Uninstall KYGRPRes.dll, then install HP Photo and Imaging 2.2 software.

Double click the My Computer icon.
Double-click the C: drive.
Double-click the folder containing the program files.
Double-click the Hewlett-Packard folder.
Double-click the Digital Imaging folder.
Double click the package folder.
Find and click KYGRPRes.dll to identify the file.
Press the Delete key on the appropriate keyboard. Delete this file.

IF HP Photo Imaging And 2.2 Are Currently Installed

Uninstall the KYGRPRes. and dlls, and then restore the HP Photo and Imaging 2.2 software.

Double click the My Computer icon.
Usually double-click the C: drive.
Double-click the folder containing the program files.
Double-click a specific Hewlett-Packard folder.
Double-click the Digital Imaging folder.
Double click the entire bin folder.
Locate the KYGRPRes.dll file and click it to highlight the file.

Solution

Uninstall all previous styles of HP photo and imaging software and install only HP Photo in addition to version 2.2 of the imaging software included with the HP 3970c Scanjet series.

If HP Photo Imaging And 2.2 Are Not Currently Installed

Uninstall KYGRPRes.dll, then install HP Photo and Imaging 2.2 software.

Double click the My Computer icon.
Double-click the C: drive.
Double-click the folder containing the program files.
Double-click the Hewlett-Packard folder.
Double-click the Digital Imaging folder.
Double click the bin folder.
Locate the KYGRPRes.dll file and click it to highlight the file.
Press to delete the first point from the keyboard. Delete that part of the file.

IF HP Photo And 2 Imaging.2 Are Already Installed

Uninstall KYGRPRes. and dlls, then restore all HP Photo and Imaging 2.2 software.

Double click the My Computer icon.
Double-click the C: drive.
Twiceclick the folder containing the program files.
Double-click the Hewlett-Packard folder.
Double-click the Digital Imaging folder.
Double click the bin folder.
Find and select KYGRPRes.dll to highlight the file.
Press the Delete key, usually a keyboard key. Deletes multiple files.
Repair simulation program.
1. Close all open applications.
2. Insert the HP Photo and Imaging Software Installation CD according to your CD-ROM drive. The installation of the program will start automatically. If the installer does not start automatically, click Start and then Run. In the Run box, enter D: setup.exe (where d is your CD-ROM drive).
3. Click Install Software.
4. Select Custom, then click Next.
5. Check the box next to HP Photo and Imaging Software and click Next.

Close All suggested applications.
Insert the HP Photo & Imaging Applications Installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The installation of the program should start automatically. If you see that the installer does not start automatically, click the Start button and then click Run. In the Execute Exact box, enter D: setup.exe (where d is your primary CD-ROM drive).
Click Install Software.
Select “Custom” then “Next”.
Check the box next to HP Photo and Imaging Software and click Next.
Click Next. The InstallShield Wizard will open.
Follow the selection prompts at the top of the screen to repair my software.
