Vocal Remover by AnalogX is a simple little program that looks like a karaoke DSP for PC sound effects. You can get Vocal Remover in more than two versions: as a standalone application (with DirectX) or as a Winamp plugin. I chose the latter option for now as I definitely installed Winamp and its plugin network is very clean and well organized.

The plugin promotion process is the same as for any otherugly plugin – we need to be more open-minded. Then Winamp press CTRL + P (or go to context menu -> Options-> Preferences). If you’ve visited the settings window too often, go to the Plugins> DSP / Effects category and we will find a new entry in the list: “AnalogX Vocal Remover” [dsp_vr.dll]. Now we need to click on this entry and we will definitely see the “Mix” slider. This is the medicine! Just move the slider up to enhance the karaoke effect on your recording. If you do this while listening to the song, you will immediately notice the transmission.

Audacity: A great free and / or open source audio editor that has many features and an easy way to take advantage of the many paid solutions. It does and never guarantees perfect results, it is certainly not as advanced an audio editor as Audacity, but it often does not reveal standards. To use it, just launch and select the song you want to record a singing voice from: it only supports video files and music CDs.
