There were four different versions of the K-Lite Codec Pack. From a very small packet containing only the most important decoders to a larger and deeper packet. The general differences between the options can be found below. Details of the difficulties can be found at See capacity comparison and content pages.
These codecs can be found in packages compatible with Windows Vista / 7/8 / 8.1 / 10. Older versions also with XP.
Packages add both 32-bit and 64-bit codecs, so these things work great on both x86 and x64 flavors of Windows!

Note: the basic version does NOT include a working player.
You must use it with the player installed DirectShow TV, which is classified as a Windows Media Player. Reproducing WMP issues, please read our FAQ to find solutions.

This type of codecs will definitely be used by some video editing / encoding applications to work with AVI files. For example VirtualDub.
Codecs are not used or are urgently needed for video playback.
Important Note: The K-Lite Codec Pack does not extend the capabilities of professional video editors such as Vegas Movie Studio or Adobe Premiere. These applications often only support the import of a small number of files and formats, and by no means use codecs.containing most codecs (DirectShow / VFW). Modern publishers often use only the internal codecs of the respective entities, or only support codecs such as the Media Foundation.

Important Note: The additional filters mentioned above are not only installed by default. We also recommend that you do not use these legacy filters. They are included only for a small group of everyone with a reason to practice them. We strongly recommend using the standard attachments included in the kit. They are probably better.
Important note. All the additional features described in Mega are only useful to a small group of people. Doesn’t it offer any playback functionality for additional audio or video formats? If you are interested Since it is read-only, the full version should be enough for you.

This will most likely not be a standalone installer. Updating this skill requires that the latest version of Basic / Standard / Full / Mega is already installed.
