Help Fix Sqlplus Startup Error On Windows 7

This section describes how to run SQL * Plus and sub Access the database using a sequence of commands and the Windows Start menu.

For a complete fresh installation, connect to the database using the SYS database profile or the SYSTEM database profile. If you enter SYS or section ( / ) as the username and include the AS SYSDBA clause, access must be authenticated through operating system authentication. Operational Authority Authentication uses your Windows, UNIX, or Linux host account to authenticate Oracle against the database. You must be logged on to the host computer with an attentive user who is a member of only one special user group on the host. On Linux UNIX, this user group is often dba . The following procedures show how to connect to the database as user SYS with rights м SYSDBA .

1. Open each command window.

2. Set the operating system workspace variables as described in the "Setting operating environment system variables" section.

3. Run SQL * Plus with your command in the following format:

    sqlplus / [eg sysdba]

   Here's an example of how to stay in control:

    $ sqlplus / AS SYSDBAEnter password: Password

   For username , you can use admin SYS , or perhaps even SYSTEM . At the command line, enter the password that you set during installation. If you are using the SYS client, you must add AS SYSDBA after the username.

   SQL * Plus connects you to the standard directory instance (Microsoft Windows) or to the database location specified by the And environment variable (Linux UNIX).

You can even use the admin accounts SYS or SYSTEM for the username, and someone can use the password you linked when you logged in. Installation.

First Things First: What Is The SQL * Plus Instant Client?

SQL * Plus Instant Client is a stand-alone software product with all the SQL * Plus command line functionality. It connects to existing Oracle Remote Lead Lists, but does not contain its own database. It is easy to install and uses much less disk space than a full Oracle Database Client installation which required to use SQL * Plus from the command line.

If you just want a very simple command line interface to connect to remote Oracle databases, the Instant Client will do the job just fine.

1. Download Installers From OTN: Basic OCI + Instant Sql * Plus

sql * plus client package can use OCI Instant Client as a requirement. For everything to work, both must be (i) the same version and additionally (ii) installed in the same directory.

Select any package you want to install - in this case:

• Basic Light Package - Smaller Basic OCI package size, with true English error messages.
• SQL * Plus Package - SQL * Plus command line tool for advanced SQL queries.

Click pl / sql on the hyperlinks to start the download - this will download the zip files to your local machine.

2. Usually Downloads Fetch

Extract both zip files to an old local folder such as D: Tools sqlplus. A new subfolder will be created (in this case Instantclient_12_2).

3. Modify The PATH Variable In The SQL * Plus Instant Client Directory .

Add The Directory That Manages The Instant Client Files To Your PATH Environment Variable. Make Sure This Addition Does Not Conflict With Another Live Oracle Path - If So, The Existing Value Is Removed Or The Particular New Value Is Moved To The Beginning Of The User's PATH.

We Now Have An Instant SQL * Plus Client For Connecting To Remote Shows.

4. Connect To The Database Using The SQL * Plus Instant Client Using The Oracle Net Connection ID

To access the database, first open a specific command prompt window.

Enter the Easy Connection ID to connect to the database. For example, the Easy Connection ID for each HR schema in the XE database read from the main sales server, port 1521, is as follows:
