I’m getting error 217 (An internal access error occurred while trying to connect remotely to initialize the VPN. Please close all other programs and check again.) on my then computer, to which I connect via GCN. Details below:
OS: Win 7.64 bit
GNC: 7.7.3.3001
User attempt:
1. client Remove AT&T Global Network Monitor from startup items
2. Disable NetSP Settings – Power Failure Recovery on the MSCONFIG startup tab
3. Policy Agent services are stopped by ipsec in .msc
4. The account is correct according to SRC
5 s. Disable Mcafee
Still getting the same firewall error message. Help.

I have learned that the AT&T WAN client is responsible for marketing issues on the PC, even though it is not a WAN client.
Symptoms include one-way ping, Windows Media Center Extender connection and configuration issues, and remote desktop not working.

I’ve done a factory reset on both computers to make sure the factory settings are useful and working for media center, ping and remote desktop. My test computers usually have 64-bit 7 windows Ultimate and 64-bit 7 windows Professional. Both download the v8 version of the machine directly from the att website to make sure the latest version is 8.10.0.3004 “Managed VPN Edition”
