Like many others who have used Windows XP Service Pack 3, I found that the idea crashed when this installer reached the “Clean Up” step.

But I was hearing a lot of hard drive activity, so I thought something was going on. The problem could be that it was a cycle and not progressing because it took a long time to do what was required.

I did a search for “Windows XP SP3 crashes during cleanup” and found many messages that a full SP3 installation would take more than two additional hours. Then you must exit the update task and try to start over. Unsurprisingly, many women who followed this advice then complained that one computer would not restart or that it now regularly displays blue screens.

I knew there was still a log file somewhere, and it was showing so endlessly that the installation was essentially progressing, so it would be better to complete it, no matter how long it takes.

Open your Windows browser in the C: Windows folder and sort by date / time in order of Lingering. It is still obvious that the log files for blog posts and knowledge base articles have been incredibly generated in the last few minutes. The display update showed a new process. Therefore, the installation continued. Every ten minutes we checked if this was the case, and finally, after 2 hours 57 minutes after the start of the installation, the installation was successfully completed.

Same here. Thanks to Tom, Dconley and Dave for their answers. I’m going to bring them all here.

During the cleanup phase, Windows actually installs the fixes. I’m not sure if there is a safe way to restart during methods, although some in this thread have suggested hitting shutdown and leaving these installers find out it really has to stop. I will not do it.

In this situation, you can track progress like this:

    PC running slow?

ASR Pro is the ultimate solution for your PC repair needs! Not only does it swiftly and safely diagnose and repair various Windows issues, but it also increases system performance, optimizes memory, improves security and fine tunes your PC for maximum reliability. So why wait? Get started today!

    1) Open Control Panel: Administrative Tools, click

    2) open the entire event viewer.

    3) Navigate in the tree with the left system to.

    4) Find publications the source of NtServicePack. Ideally, they will come every few minutes. If you double-click the message, it displays dots, and it should be something really funny: “Windows XP Hotfix KB (Numbers) installed.”

In addition to contributing to the event, you can simultaneously track the progress of the task:

xp sp3 install hanging on cleanup

    1) Ctrl-Alt-Del to display the task manager. Take a look

    2) for 2 measurements named “update.exe”.

    • Basic installer, ~ 40MB in size.
    • The minor update.exe process for each patch (one at a time) usually has ~ 11MB increments (and while it is running).

Each time the boy’s process ends, a different event is displayed in the event viewer.

    Acceleration

I don’t know how many patches there will be in your time, but for me it will be 68. The best option is to increase the update rate by installing patches. There are several ways to do this:

    1) In Task Manager, right click “update.exe” and also set the priority to high. You should do this for the main draw and, if you’re brave, for every butt.chi baby when she shows up.

    2) Sort specific processes by “memory and usage”, Google 10 most popular names. Kill the ones that are unfortunately useless (like antivirus scanners). Some antivirus services restart after you kill them, so you should successfully navigate to services (in Control Panel: Administrative Tools) to stop them.

Once you get the frequency down to less than 2 minutes, you will definitely be fine. Wait and watch.

  • Same opinion here. Thanks to Tom, dconley and therefore Dave for your answers. I will help you collect them here.

During a cleanup that is part of the installation, Windows installs fixes. I’m not sure if there is a completely safe way to restart, although some in this thread have suggested quitting and leaving most of it up to the installer. Find out this is the way to stop. I will not do it.

    3) Navigate the tree structure on the left, which is less known to the system.

    4) To search for publications from specific sources “NtServicePack”. This should happen every few minutes. Double clicking on a message will bring up the details.th, and it should probably say something like “Windows XP Hotfix KB (Numbers) installed”.

In addition to viewing performance metrics, you can also track a task:

    • The main installer, which takes about 40MB of memory.
    • The update.exe helper process for quick fixes (one at a time) typically takes about 40MB of memory. ‘Approximately 11 MB per store. Increments (and how it happens).

Every time the child process is cleaned up, a different event is posted to the entire Event Viewer.

I don’t know how many fixes you have, but there were 68 for you. The best option is to speed up the installation of fixes. There are many ways to do this:

    1) In Task Manager, right-click “update.exe” and set the value to “High”. You should do this in relation to the main task, and if you feel bold, then for the child, each task as it appears.

    2) Sort the processes by “using memes” and Google the names of the top ten. Kill that not all of them are problematic (for example, you canYou may need to go to Services (in Control Panel: Administration) Tools) to stop them.

After the rate cut, everything is in order. Wait until it’s over.
