Some features, including printer sharing, are designed for useratelier with administrator rights. If you are not sure if you have administrator rights, contact your network administrator. If you are not currently a network administrator, customers will need to either ask the network administrator to add administrator rights to your user history, or create a computer-based network administrator log for you.

Daniel started writing hats at Simply in 2008. His articles cover topics such as computers, web design, software, and technology development. He earned a BA in Media and Game Development and a degree in Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

In this article, I will write an estimateA quick and easy troubleshooting guide for file sharing or social networking between two computers. Unfortunately, Windows can still be a daunting task, and even if you hope everything works, accessing a share for another computer might fail.

I once wrote a great article on how to network two people running Windows. I also wrote about how to wirelessly connect two computers and exchange data!

If you’ve read any of these articles but still can’t access Tell on a different computer with the same carrier, try the following troubleshooting tips!

    Troubleshoot Network Shares

    1. Working group. Make sure all the computers you want to access are in the same workgroup. The workgroup header must be the same on all computers. Also make sure you use the same case for names (all upper or lower case).

For Windows 9 and laterClick Start, select Wide Panel in Workgroup, and then select Change Workgroup Name. Click the Change Time button to change the workgroup name.

    2. HomeGroup – Windows introduced a new feature called HomeGroup that automatically configures everything and therefore file sharing between Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 computers.

Check out my articles on Windows Homegroup Management and Homegroup Positive Solution.

    3. File and Printer Sharing – Make sure File and Printer Sharing is enabled due to the adapter’s network. You can enable it by going to Network Control Panel, Connections, right-clicking on your network connection, choosing Properties, and making sure file and printer sharing is enabled for Microsoft networks.

On some versions of Windows and later, you need to go to the Network and Sharing Center, then click “Advanced Sharing Options” and enable “Information Technology” there.

    4. Correct Subnet and IP Approach – You should really have no problem seeing if all of your computers are connected to the same router, but it’s still worth mentioning.

Make sure the subnet mask and default gateway are the same for all technologies. If they do not match, at this stage you will have problems connecting some computers to the network.

To view these suggestions, click Start, Run, type cmd, and then type IPCONFIG / ALL at a command prompt on each computer.

    5. Check your firewalls. I suggest turning off Windows Firewall on which computers first and then trying to access the shared folders. Also, don’t forget to turn off third-party firewalls like Norton and Comodo.

If you find that sharing works when the firewall is off, make sure that file and printer sharing can be added to someone else’s exclusion list in third-party programs and Windows Firewall.

    6. General permissions. What to do if you receive a message. You may still be a long way from getting a permit to do it Using this online resource?

Depending on which families are used in XP Home or XP Pro, you need to set up the expression correctly. For XP, all you can do at home is share files using Simple File Sharing. This is good because they have a guru to guide you through the blogging process.

For XP Pro, you need to turn off Simple File Sharing and set NTFS and Sharing permissions to allow all connections. For more information see my article on how to set file / folder permissions or how to exchange files between computers.

    7. Use TCP / IP – you probably don’t have to worry too much, but to include all the basics, you need to fix the fact that all computers on the network use the Internet very well. TCP / IP exists for IPX / SPX or NetBEUI.

You go to Start, Control Panel, Network Connections, right-click on a network connection, select Properties and see which protocol is listed.

    8. Username and Password . If all of the above is true and you still cannot log in, you can also try to make sure that the usernames and passwords are the same on all computers.

It’s better to have passwords for almost all accounts and create a new subscription on every computer with the same username and password. Sometimes it’s important to create a new account and not just change the name or password of an available account. Make sure the accounts are administrators.

It is also important to know that you will not be able to connect to a work network share if the host computer does not have a password for the customer account. You can turn off password sharing, which removes the above but also mandatory requirement. It is much less secure.

    9. Computer names. Make sure the NetBIOS domains are unique across all computers. NetBIOS names are only 8 characters long. Thus, if someone names the computer JohnnyBoy1 and JohnnyBoy2, they get the same NetBIOS name.

Make sure the first eight characters of the correct computer name are unique, otherwisewhy are you in trouble. Note that this is a sporadic case with very old versions of Windows. You don’t need to make a distinction for Windows 7 and later.

    10. Local security policy. Another reason you can’t access just one other computer in the entire network is because of the stricter security policy.

You can access Control Panel, Tools, Administrative Local Security Policy, Local Policies and Security Settings. Now find the reading guide:

Network Access: Don't Allow Anonymous Enumeration After SAM Accounts and Shares

Make sure this value is off. Also, remember to disable only the setting that enables SAM Accounts and Shares, and not the specific setting Only SAM Accounts.

    11. Remove your antivirus and internet security. Finally, make sure all of your antivirus programs are disabled or uninstalled to test the connection. If you have a lot of internet security software like Norton Internet Security or Kaspersky Internet Security, turn them off!

That’s all! These are all the tips I can think of to fix manual file sharing problems on Windows! If you cannot actually access the network share, just post what exactly you have tried so far and I will now try to help. Have fun!
