Create A Windows XP Recovery CD
Before you continue, make sure you have your original Windows XP installation CD.
This original installation CD can be used as a recovery disc that you can use to restore your computer using the Recovery Console (Command Cover utility).
You can run bootcfg, chkdsk and the following commands from the recovery console.
If You Have The First CD
If you have a floppy, follow these steps to open the recovery console:
Insert the CD into the optical drive.
Restart your computer
Press R on the actual splash screen to load the recovery console.

In order to create a boot disk, you must be able to boot into Windows XP. Otherwise, you will not be able to start Windows XP at any time. Navigate to your Windows XP recovery boot disk.
First, you need to make sure that your computer’s drive is working properly. Your Windows XP netbook must have a working floppy disk. Create
on your Windows XP boot disk, do the following:

Insert floppy into floppy
Finally, go to “My Computer”.
Right-click the floppy disk. This is usually drive A:.
Click “Format”.
Check “Create MS-DOS boot floppy” in the “Format Options” section.
