A WMI error occurs when accessing a “WMI filter” without sufficient authorization. It comes from the Windows Much SP1 DVD / ISO creation process. There was a really good issue with the build process that kept the WMI registry in DVD / ISO format.

Vendor authors can avoid many of the problems with error reporting via WMI by generally doing the following:

• Add the entire #pragma autorecover statement to a Managed Object Format (MOF) file that defines the provider of your valuable classes.

Access Denied

Access denied errors reported by scripts and applications that access namespaces and WMI data are typically different categories. The following table lists the three categories of errors, as well as the problems they may encounter and possible solutions.

0x800706BA HRESULT_FROM_WIN32 (RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE) Firewall issue or hosting unavailable. Then, to access DCOM Config, look at Windows Management Instrumentation and specify the PC operator you want to remotely start and activate remotely. 0x80041003 in progress WBEM_E_ACCESS_DENIED Access denied by your supplier	The user does not have permission to perform an operation in WMI. This can happen when requesting certain classes as a low privilege user, but the most common way to try to invoke methods is to switch WMI as a low privilege instance. The namespace you are connecting to is actually encrypted and the user wants to establish an unencrypted connection	Grant this specific user access using a WMI control (make sure Remote_Access is true). Connect to a client that supports securityhardness.

• Typically DCOM errors occur when connecting to a remote computer with a different version of the operating system.

• Providers can also deny access to tips in specific namespaces or require a specific level of login security. For more information, see Defining client application process security and Hosting and provider security .

• Internet access error due to connection firewall (ICF) changes.

• 

  Error denied access is returned by DCOM security whenever a low integrity client tries to access WMI. For example, an ActiveX control that works fine in Internet Explorer with an overall security level of Low will never have access to perform local WMI operations.

  Windows 7: Low integrity users have read-only permission to create local computers WMI operations.

Error Information

If you receive an error from WMI, you can find the message in WMI constants or, for scripts, in WbemErrorEnum error. However, the concept provided by error alone is generally considered insufficient to determine what is happening. WMI database corruption can be disguised as a class such as “not found”.
