PC running slow?

So, I did a little testing and found that 96.0 is the best compromise for all my mp3s, they play at good volume without clipping. And yes, I think this is the main reason people useThey use CD Gain because you may not even notice it, but most MP3 files are “cut” with an MP3 player because the volume may be too high. It is usually audible despite loud, piercing noise, if not all the time visually, but if you stabilize the mp3 gain and do some listening tests, you can see the difference.
Edit: I forgot to add that I don’t notice any amplification plugins during Winamp, and I haven’t looked either. I used a preamp, but it distorts this very output signal. If the volume is too low right now, I just turn up the volume on my stereo (I hooked up my favorite computer to a decent aiwa system).
