    My time is 10:40 and I have Windows XP Professional, SP2 on my desktop. Legalbuds recently installed avg 8.5 on my computer. After installation, it immediately detected WIN32/PEPATCH.AO on my system (explorer.exe spools.exe winlogon.exe). But if you all know, I can’t delete these files because they are whitelisted.Hope this fixes these issues immediately as this is indeed my desktop computer.

    Restart your computer in “safe mode” using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and, when you hear a beep at startup (but before the Windows icon appears), press the F8 key several times. One or two options menus will appear.     • The reason you were moved from the HijackThis forum to the main Am I Infected forum is because you didn’t follow the general instructions in the setup guide. The protection that Reigel ran after proved to be useful. Let’s see if we can help you more here, or you may have to go back to many forums for more advanced tools.

    • Double-click the ATF-Cleaner.exe file and run the program.
    • On the main menu, under Select and Delete Files, select Select All.

      • < li >Click the selected blank button.

    • If you are using the Firefox browser, click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    • Click the selected blank button.
      If you want to save savethese passwords, just click “No” when prompted.
    • If you’re using the Opera browser, click Opera at the top and select: “Select All”.
    • Click the “Clear Selection” button.
      If you want to keep your saved passwords, click No when prompted.
    • Click Exit on the main menu to close the program. On

    Note. In Vista, the “Windows Temp” feature is disabled. To clean “Windows Temp”, ATF-Cleaner must be “Run as Administrator”.

    • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
    • Double-click the mbam-setup.exe file to install the application.
    • When the installation starts, follow the instructions and do not change default settings.
    • If the installation is already complete, remember to leave the following two options enabled:
      • Malwarebytes’ Anti-Update Malware
      • Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    • Then just click Done.

    MBAM will start automatically and you will most likely be prompted to update the running program before scanning.
