Here are some simple steps to fix your Maemo debugging problem.
PC running slow?
maemo-debug-scripts has become a handy package for debugging Harmattan solutions. For example, the package depends on libc6-dbg
. Without libc6-dbg
, streams cannot be debugged by GDB, and Valgrind reports redundant errors regarding the dynamic loader (its error removal for / lib / ld
functions cannot be done with the debug symbols file will match because the remote binary does not contain static execution names).
-
debug-dep-install
- Installs debug symbols for the specified binaries and their own dependencies as specified by “ldd”.
-
debug-pkg-check
- Checks that the specified package is correctly attached to the debug package.
-
list-mmapped-libs
- Lists all packages that contain library binaries and are used by the specified process. Optionally, it can be used to reduce the number of mmap allocated libraries that ldd cannot find (used by the debug-deb-install script).

Installing Maemo Debug Scripts For The Harmattan Device
- Select> CustomSafety Racks> Developer Mode.
- Install the debug package by clicking the Install button on the platform.
- You will receive a notification screen listing all the applications that need to be installed in the associated package. Click OK to install.
- A dependency notification is displayed. Click “Accept”.
For more information on developer mode and the devices that you can install, see the Enabling developer mode section.

- debug-pkg-check man page
- list-mmapped-libs creates the plan page manually
- Use GDB
- strace
- Using Valgrind
Use
This guide is intended for developers who want to debug and / or modify applications that run Maemo (either directly on our device or from scratch). While its primary focus will ultimately be to debug Fennec on a device, it should still be useful when it comes to debugging almost anything maemo runs on.
The following step-by-step instructions are for previous use on the Nokia N810 Internet Gadget with DIABLO Maemo distribution (the latest version was recommended at the time of this writing).
No guarantees are made here.Cheating and failure can still occur after these steps as they are based on a setting that may be different from yours.
The various steps at the end are based on the assumption that your entire family has installed the Maemo 4.0.1 Scratchbox SDK on your desktop. At this point, you must complete at least these 2 goals in the inner workspace:
- CHINOOK_ARMEL
- CHINOOK_ARMEL_2007 ==> We’re fine.
1. REQUEST N810
If you undoubtedly have DIABLO installed on your device, you can skip to step 2. To check the operating system version configured on the N810, go to [Settings] on the main toolbar and visitors “open” in the header. “Control Panel”. In the field “Version” you must specify: “4.2008.36-5”, on the other hand “5.2008.43-7”. If it is lower, do most of the following steps From the desktop console:
- Download the flash “flasher-3.0” utility from http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/d3.php
- Usually the Diablo firmware image “RX-44_DIABLO_4.2008.36-5_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin” or “RX-44_DIABLO_5.2008.43-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin” can be obtained at http://tablets.com-dev.nokia / nokia.ph / li>
- Turn off the device, disconnect it from the regenerator and connect the USB cable.
- Flash device:
./flasher-3.0 -F/RX-44_DIABLO_5.2008.43-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
-
-
-
- If the message “No suitable USB device found, pending” is displayed, turn on the N810 during replacement. Keep the button pressed. Blinking should start the organization.
-
-
- Activate R&D mode on your N810 superuser (for access rights) using the show utility as follows:

./flasher-3.0 --enable-rd-mode -R

- Every time the N810 displays the message “No suitable USB device found, waiting” while moving the switch Hold the button. The direction indicator should work and the R&D mode should be started as soon as possible.

- flashnew kernel compatible with opprofile. oprofile is a profiling tool that can be used when debugging profiling on the N810. However, in order to use it, you need to update the kernel of our own device. First connect to the scratchbox, select the CHINOOK-ARMEL-2007 target and follow these steps:
Exit the scratchbox in the desktop console … flash a clean kernel image:
./flasher-3.0 -f --kernel / tmp / zImage-oprofile-diablo-200850 -R
-
-
-
- Again, if USB displays “no suitable device found, pending”, turn on the N810 while pressing the share button. …

2. YOUR N810 Configuration
Now please go away Take a moment from your desktop to switch to the N810. Turn it on and open an X terminal:
- Make my internal map executable
Sudou Geynrootvi / usr / sbin / mmc-mount
mount -g -o vfat rw, noauto, nodev, nosuid, noatime, nodiratime, utf8, uid = 29999, shortname = mixed "$ 1" "$ 2"> / dev / null
- Add a place to exchange for an available card
To see if you expect to get 512MB of swap, enter:
If you want this swap file to be mounted on device startup, you need to add “swapon -a” to /etc/init.d/rcS, but it is not recommended to always mount it because it happens gradually, install the tab
- OPROFIL
Before / etc / sudoersIf opcontrol continues, we will see if the private kernel is compatible with oprofile (should be from the moment you asked for the new See your kernel image before step 1).
opcontrol -status # should NOT return something like "unsupported profile as well as kernel"
- Install Gainroot DebugEcho Packets
-
- The script should provide most of the installed debug packages except “libaudiofile”, “libesd”, “osso-xterm”, “libvte” and “zlib1g” to avoid debugging. Package creation is available.
- Install other important tools
- Repair / update other Binutils tools
-
- TO BE COMPLETED
Now that your N810 is really ready, you can debug and profile just about any program built for the ARMEL target. In what follows, we will use the example of a human fenech.
- Generate Fennec Debug with Symbols
Now go back to your desktop and connect to the scratchbox-CHINOOK-ARMEL-2007 target. Build Fennec according to the instructions in Mobile / Build / Fennec. You can create fennec forDEBUG or PERF, but be sure to add watch line to your mozconfig to get debug symbols in the resulting libraries on the market:
ac_add_options --enable-debugger-info-modules
- Fennec Package
At this point, you can probably hide and copy the Fennec folder
Create package PKG_SKIP_STRIP = 1
-
- The ‘pkg_skip_strip = 1’ flag is important because it tells make NOT to remove debug symbols from the libraries it contains!
You can now find the packaged Fennec in the
cdImprove the speed of your computer today by downloading this software - it will fix your PC problems./ mobile / dist; # Replace with the special objdir directorycp -R fennec / tmp
