Finding Folder Options Modules in Windows Vista is slightly more difficult than in previous versions. The easiest way to do this is to use the Folder Options control panel to change the way ringtone folders and the files they contain are displayed. You can still display the Folder Options menu item while browsing a folder by holding down the ALT key for a few seconds and then releasing it to display the menu.
To enable viewing of hidden and protected system files in Windows Vista, follow these steps:
- Close all programs so that they are on your desktop.
- Click on the “Start” button. This is a small circular alternative with the Windows flag in the lower left corner.
- Click the control menu to activate the option.
- When the dashboard opens, you can switch to the classic view or the initial dashboard view:
If you are using the classic view, do the following:
- Double-click any options folder icon.
- Click the View tab.
- Go to step 5.
If you are in the initial view of the dashboard, do this:
- Click the Appearance and Personalization link.
- Click Show hidden files or folders.
- Go to method 5.
- Under the fence, select Hidden files and folders, select the Show invisible files and folders radio button.
- Uncheck Hide extensions for file types.
- Clear the Hide protected linked operating system files check box. After that, your folder options screen should ideally look like this.
- Then almost click the Apply button and then click the OK button.
