Reason

This problem can occur in the following stuations:

• The currently loaded airport taxi USB is unstable or damaged.
• Your laptop needs an update to resolve issues that can cause problems with your external USB hard drive and then Windows.
• Windows may be missing other important updates or software issues.
• Your USB controllers may become unstable or damaged.
• Your external drive may be in selective suspend mode.
• Your computer may also require updated drivers.

Solution 1: Remove The External Hard Drive, Then Plug It Back In

This method fixes problems when the driver currently loaded via USB is unstable or possibly corrupted.

1. Select Start and type Device Manager in the Search box.
2. Select a device manager from this list.
3. Select drives from the hardware list.
4. Press and hold (or right-click) the USB portable hard drive to fix the problem and look for uninstall option…
5. After removing the hard disk, disconnect the USB cable.
6. Wait 1 minute, then plug the USB cable back in. The current driver is loaded automatically.
7. Find the Windows Explorer USB stick.

3. Click Next. If you are prompted for permission to control user accounts, select Yes.

4. Select Download> Open.

5. The download should start in 30 seconds. Otherwise, start download> Open.

6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the download and installation.

8. Select and view the call patch downloads> Select a patch.

9. How do I fix MTP USB device driver installation failed?
