There are four different types of K-Lite Codec Packs. From a very small package containing only the most important decoders to a large, bulky and complete package. The general differences between the options can be found below. Detailed differences can be seen by comparing features and citing content pages.
These codec packs are similar to Windows from Vista / 7/8 / 8.1 / 10. Older versions also from XP.
Packages contain both 32-bit and 64-bit codecs, so they work fine with both x86 and x64 versions of Windows!
Basic

Small, but extremely powerful!
Already includes everything you need to play all popular audio and video file formats.
Playback support:
- AVI, MKV, MP4, FLV, MPEG, MOV, TS, M2TS, WMV, RM, OGM, rmvb, WebM
< li> MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, 3GP, AMR, APE, MKA, Opus, Wavpack, Musepack
- DVD and Blu-ray (after decryption)
- and whole a range of other audio and video formats!

Note: the base version does NOT include a player.
You must use it with the currently installed DirectShow player such as Windows Media Player. Read if you are having problems with WMP, for example read our answers to frequently asked questions about solutions.
We recommend Standard, k-lite, which contains MPC-HC, which is a really great player.

This is a tactic for getting detailed information about media files.
This is an option for the average driver. Use it when you are not sure what you want. It already has everything you need to play . The extra qualities found in the larger varieties are of no use to most users.

- Some ACM / VFW codecs such as x264VFW and Lagarith. This kind of codecs are probably used by video editing / encoding applications to work with AVI via files. For example VirtualDub.
These codecs are factThey are not technically used or required for reproduction.
Important Note: The K-Lite Codec Pack does not extend the import capabilities of advanced video editors such as Adobe’s Vegas Movie Studio or Premiere. These applications often only support importing a small set of directory formats and do not support all types of codecs included in the codec pack (DirectShow / VFW). Modern publishers often only use their own internal codecs, or only support external codecs such as Media Foundation.
And some additional optional DirectShow filters:
- ffdshow -Audio / video processor
Provides filters to control decoded audio and video.
- ffdshow audio / video decoder is an alternative choice for LAV audio / video decoders.
- AC3Filter, great alternative for LAV audio decoders.
Important note: the additional filters mentioned above are not installed by default. We also do not recommend using legacy filters of this type. They are included only for a small group of people who have a reason to use them. Strongly recommendedWe hope to use the standard decoders included in the package. It is better.
Important note: all the extra features included in it are really only useful for a small group of people. It does not provide the function to play additional audio or video file formats. If you are only interested in repetition, then the full version is enough for you.
