I want to upgrade my laptop to Vista SP2. I need to install SP1 first. Not installed and also after step 3 or 3 100% with a message that the error will be reset0x800f0826.
The most common reason when searching the web is a previous failed Windows update.
There are almost no updates listed in Windows Updates on these laptops, none listed as installed or hidden. It looks like Windows doesn’t have an update history yet, but it tells me it is up to date and there are no updates.
I tried using various Microsoft FixIt sources from various knowledge base articles to resolve this issue and give a second hint because 100% of all Fixit tools don’t work.
If I could figure out what is causing each of them to crash, I could get a lot more information about SP1 crashing.

I am trying to upgrade my laptop to Vista SP2. First I need to installrun SP1. It is not installed and after step 3 or 3, 100% it returns an error0x800f0826.

This laptop does not have evidence of any of the updates listed in the Windows Updates section, none such as Pending Installations or Unknown. As if Windows didn’t change history, and that doesn’t tell me either This article is current and updates may not be available.
I tried the wonderful Microsoft FixIt toolkit from individual knowledge base articles to try and fix this issue, and my other tip is mostly related to 100% failure of all Fix it tools.

If I understand why they are corrupted, I may have more information about the new failed Service Pack 1 (SP1).
