Description Of The Problem
Cisco IP Phones that also have some vendor components that may be underutilized or displaying an Ethernet Disabled message.
Technical analysis predicting that a cell with failed components will fail after 90 days of successful deployment.
This problem primarily affects all CP-7905 phones,but a small number of glitches can occur with all of the other Cisco IP Phones on the list. See the relevant section above.
Context
Non-Cisco vendor components are included in a limited number of bundled Cisco IP Phones. These components, if covered, will cause true Cisco IP Phone failure within 90 days of correct deployment.
Symptoms Of A Problem
Cisco IP Phone won’t turn on or off when a certain message is displayed: Separate Ethernet. This deployment primarily affects the Cisco IP Phone CP-7905G, which is network-powered.

One of these shortcomings in the CP-7902G phone, which usually does not have an LCD display, instead results in no lights on when the phone starts up or the red and green flashing lights on most LED panels flash.

Onsite Repair Strategy
Products manufactured after February 18, 2004 are guaranteed not to have this problem.
Although an upgrade program was previously provided to replace potentially affected but otherwise workable products, my upgrade program is now complete and Cisco will only replace products that are actually out of order. The standard RMA process should be used to replace a defective product.

Due to this issue, very few Cisco IP Phones shipped to customers primarily affect the CP-7905.
If you are having problems with Ethernet disconnections or power outages and your phone number serial number is also in the range of serial numbers to which it isaffects, follow all the troubleshooting steps below to make sure your phone is affected by this issue.
Users who receive an Ethernet disconnect message or LED combination described in the “Problem for CP-7902G” section should contact a known good local (LAN) cable and RJ-45 test port. If the error message persists after restarting the phone, use the return authorization (rma) process to replace the affected IP phone.
Users who experience a power failure on their Cisco IP Phone should follow the publicly available troubleshooting instructions:
- Disconnect all phones and reconnect them to an electrical outlet, line or wall outlet, etc.
- Check the RJ-45 port and send that the phone is connected to make sure the connection is still active. Whenever possible, use a familiar phone to test the performance of the network on which the experts will point the port.
